The Nicklaus Design Group designed the course and it took five years to sculpt this wonderful environmentally friendly golf course. It is the first in Mexico to receive certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, which is designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property. Cozumel Country Club offers a challenging experience to the serious golfer and allows an enjoyable surrounding for the not so serious ones combining short holes with longer ones to challenge everyone.
The Club is owned and operated by ClubCorp. Members of other ClubCorp clubs in the U.S., Australia and Europe have Signature Gold privileges with the Cozumel facility, allowing them preferred rates and tee times. Cozumel Country Club has formed partnership with several hotels on the island, extending varying golf privileges to their guests. The founding hotels; the Playa Azul Golf & Beach and the Meliá Cozumel All-Inclusive Golf & Beach Resort offer unlimited golf privileges, while the associated hotels: El Cid La Ceiba, Coral Princess, Presidente InterContinental, The Reef Club and El Cozumeleño Beach Resort extend discounts of 30 to 50 percent discounts for green fees.
“Perhaps the most common goal for golf course designers, and certainly Nicklaus Design, is to create a golf course that is enjoyable for all skill levels of player, but from the back tees, provides the good test of golf even the best players could envision. Most of all, you want the experience to be a memorable one, and something that will bring the golfer back time and time again. Cozumel Country Club is such a golf course.” - Steve Nicklaus.
