There are many ways to spend your days in Cozumel. Whether it’s spending a day on a white sandy beach, exploring Mayan ruins, celebrating with the locals, golfing, shopping the duty-free stores, or spending a romantic evening watching the perfect sunset with a loved one, you are sure to find a world where there is something for everyone.

Buenavista Horse Ranch

An incredible horseback experience that takes you back in time to the era of the Maya civilization.
A brief but complete familiarization course is given and then it’s time to saddle-up! Horses are assigned depending on each rider’s individual experience.
A guided tour takes you through the shaded rain forest where you ride by Mayan replicas and visit the caverns where they once lived. Along the way, the guide explains the daily life of the Maya intermingled with facts about their spiritual and scientific knowledge.
Then, if you so desire, it’s time to gallop across a beautiful stretch of savanna grass on your way back to the hacienda. Once there, a refreshing dip in the swimming pool awaits you along with complimentary soft drinks and beer at the cantina. You’ll also learn about horse shoeing and handcrafting through live demonstrations. Three and a half hours of pure adventure and excitement.
Located on the east side of the island, you will need to rent a car or hire a taxi (ask the driver to pick you up later). Riders must be over 12 years of age and less than 230 lbs. Take a hat, sunscreen, bathing suit, towel and a camera!

Cozumel Country Club

Cozumel Country Club opened as the island’s first golf course, and one of the Riviera Maya’s most challenging tests of golf. This 6,734-yard, par 72 golf course winds through the Mayan jungle and the native mangroves, wetlands and the natural habitats of the island. Cozumel Country Club is located in the northern Hotel Zone, just 10 minutes from downtown and from Cozumel International Airport, making it easily accessible to arriving guests.
The Nicklaus Design Group designed the course and it took five years to sculpt this wonderful environmentally friendly golf course. It is the first in Mexico to receive certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System, which is designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property. Cozumel Country Club offers a challenging experience to the serious golfer and allows an enjoyable surrounding for the not so serious ones combining short holes with longer ones to challenge everyone.
The Club is owned and operated by ClubCorp. Members of other ClubCorp clubs in the U.S., Australia and Europe have Signature Gold privileges with the Cozumel facility, allowing them preferred rates and tee times. Cozumel Country Club has formed partnership with several hotels on the island, extending varying golf privileges to their guests. The founding hotels; the Playa Azul Golf & Beach and the Meliá Cozumel All-Inclusive Golf & Beach Resort offer unlimited golf privileges, while the associated hotels: El Cid La Ceiba, Coral Princess, Presidente InterContinental, The Reef Club and El Cozumeleño Beach Resort extend discounts of 30 to 50 percent discounts for green fees.
“Perhaps the most common goal for golf course designers, and certainly Nicklaus Design, is to create a golf course that is enjoyable for all skill levels of player, but from the back tees, provides the good test of golf even the best players could envision. Most of all, you want the experience to be a memorable one, and something that will bring the golfer back time and time again. Cozumel Country Club is such a golf course.” - Steve Nicklaus

Freedom in Paradise

Freedom in Paradise is as much a state of mind as it is a place. Situated on the southern corner of Cozumel, it’s a favorite of the locals who flock there on their days off to escape for a few hours. The stunning and romantic open ocean vista makes Freedom the perfect place to walk on the beach, watch the sun dance on the waves or just unwind after a hectic day chasing deals downtown. Just drop into a hammock, breathe out and feel the stress evaporate as you check out the menu while sipping a fruity tropical drink or a cold beer. For the ultimate in relaxation, wander off to the second floor where massages are offered to the accompaniment of reggae music and the soothing roar of the surf as it crashes on the shore.
Hang out with the staff, cuddle with your significant other in a hammock or make new friends. Don’t be surprised if one of the owners, Sylvia or William Sr. comes around to say hello. Either way, do not miss the opportunity to sample the simple gastronomic delights of the Caribbean’s best ceviche, fried fish and shrimp quesadillas. Before you leave, take a few moments to check their sibling eatery, Rasta’s, where they offer all kinds of souvenirs such as t-shirts, jewelry, ceramics and souvenir Rasta Dolls. Once there, meet the island’s largest (and happiest) free-roaming pigs, Harley and Porky.
Freedom in Paradise and Rasta’s: Two great spots in one place where you can set your mind and body free.
