Isla Cozumel
Holiday Check List
The island of Cozumel situated off the eastern coastline
of Mexico is a small slice of paradise packed with things
to see and do. With some of the best coral reefs for scuba
diving in the world and beautiful white sandy beaches, people
flock to the island in search of relaxation and water adventure.
If you have booked your flights or thinking about going,
take a look at our handy holiday checklist guide to ensure
that you get the most out of your stay on the island. After
all, you do not want to get to the airport or worse the island
and realise you have forgotten something important.
Obviously tickets, passports and insurance are a must but
in order to truly take advantage of all the island offers
do some research before you board the flight. Buying a tour
guide book about the island and looking online will give
you an insight into attractions, restaurants and bars as
well as useful information needed for your stay.
If you plan on exploring the island it is worth looking
into car rental before you land on the island so everything
is in place to pick up the car once you arrive. This will
also give you the chance to compare car rental pricing and
models to ensure you get a deal to suit you and your circumstances.
Money on the island is Mexican Pesos though most places
will accept and some prefer American Dollars. There are ATM
machines in San Miguel that will dispense cash in the local
currency and credit cards are accepted in the larger business
operations. Smaller local businesses tend to require local
currency so remember to buy some before you go to the airport.
Due to the islands location you may need vaccinations in
order to be fully protected against certain diseases and
ailments. Book an appointment in good time before you travel
in order for the doctor to check and administer them. Common
vaccinations needed for travel to the island include hepatitis
A and typhoid. Also remember to stock up on your medicine
bag for travel with items such as general painkillers, rehydration
and anti diarrheal tablets as a precaution.
There are seasons on the island even though the weather
has a tropical climate and it is worth researching this before
you book your holiday. For example, you may want to miss
the rainy or hurricane seasons.
